THE PRESCHOOL @ SETECH
Dear Parents:
Southeast TECH High School is pleased to announce an opportunity to expand access to more students in our community. The Preschool At Southeast TECH will serve as an inclusive preschool program for children 3-5 years old. The Preschool will also be used as a collaborative lab providing our future educator students with hands-on experience under the guidance of a licensed early childhood educator. To meet age eligibility requirements your child must turn three before the first day of the 2022-2023 school year. If your child turns five before August 8th, then your child is not eligible for the program and must enroll in kindergarten.
We are looking for students who will play an essential role in serving as general education students while preparing and learning the foundational skills needed for kindergarten. Parents will be required to transport their child to and from school. Consistent attendance is mandatory, including staying the duration of the school session, except in the cases of illness.
The first day of school is Monday, August 8, 2022. The program is half-day, Monday through Thursday. The AM session will be from 9:05-11:35 AM, and the PM session will be from 12:25-2:56 PM. Your child may only attend one session. As part of the program, we will host occasional family and parent engagement opportunities on Fridays. Families are expected to collaborate and grow with us in this journey. There will be one licensed teacher and one teaching assistant. Enrollment is limited in an attempt to maintain an appropriate class size. Class sizes are capped at 18-20 students. Students will be selected through a lottery system. If your child is not selected, you will be added to a waitlist in the event that a spot becomes available.
If you are interested in having your child participate in this learning experience, please complete the online Peer Application by April 8, 2022. We will be holding Meet and Greet sessions for all interested families on Wednesday, April 27th from 5:00 PM-6:00 PM and Saturday, April 30th from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. Attendance at one of the sessions is mandatory in order for your child’s name to be placed in the lottery. You must attend with your child. Please choose one of the above dates when you fill out the Peer Application form. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out, my contact information is below.
